Brushless Super Vee Props

by "BCRandy" <RMAHEUXR@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 15, 2008 at 08:00 AM

I have a Aquacraft Brushless Super Vee. It's my first
"real" boat, as my previous efforts have both been home made
air boats. I'm going to replace the stock prop (1.41" x
1.83" - 3 blade). Aquacraft sells a metal 1.41" prop that
is said to be similar to the Octura 440-3 (1.57 x 2.198).
They also suggest a Graupner K series prop at 1.89" x 2.64"
that is 2 bladed for a performance enhancement. Now, for
the questions.....

First, what are the differences/considerations in switching
from a 3 bladed to a 2 bladed prop?

Next, I assume that a larger diameter and/or a larger pitch
will increase the load and thus heat buildup and a reduction
in battery life. But with a water cooled ESC and motor, is
this significant?

Has anyone used different props with a Super Vee? What
worked best for you?

Can anyone suggest a reference for me to learn more about
props in general?

TIA,
Randy
