Can anyone help me identify this kit?
Some years ago I bought a pre-built sailplane from a now-defunct hobby
store. (It was hanging from the ceiling.) The only discernable markings
are decals on the wing that read Elite 2.5si. It's a pretty kit with
foam polyhedral wings (molded plastic tips and center section), a foam
and balsa built-up fuselage and a conventional tail with stick and
monokote rudder. It's factory-decorated with some red and blue decals
of stars. The canopy, nose, wingtips, rudder tips, and elevator tips
are all molded white plastic. It's two-channel rudder and elevator.
I wandered into the local Hobby Lobby and to my surprise saw the exact
same model, again hanging from the rafters. I asked about purchasing it
and got a long-winded anwer from the counter guy about how they can't
sell the "decorative" display models because of liability. He couldn't
remember the manufacturer, saying only that the kit has been out of
production for several years.
I could post a few pics of my now very-worn-in kit. I really need a new
canopy and nose for it. I'd buy the whole thing if I could only find
one.
