More than likely, on the crash/hit that stripped your gears the shaft was
also bent. The extra force you had to use was an indication of that. You
probably had to pull a little harder on the outside shaft to get it down
and
out of the heli too. A good way to check for that would be to put the
bearing back in the gear and the bearing holder back on the other end.
Put
your inside shaft through both, then hold the inside shaft firm and spin
the
outside shaft. If bent, you will see some runout (wobble) somewhere along
the outside shaft as it spins around.
BTW, after you get it back together your first operational test should be
hooking up the battery then slowly power up the lower blades first. Watch
for any wobble in the upper blades while their not moving. If OK, stop
the
lowers and spin the uppers and watch for the same. No wobbles your good
to
go...If you get any excessive wobbling, remove the blades and check it
again
up close. If no runout, try a different set of blades. I've chased down
what I thought was a bent shaft, before I found I had a bad new blade
(happens a bit that you get 1 or 2 unbalanced/bad weighted blades in that
4-pack)
PS: I'm assuming it was a crash and that you were not able to kill the
throttle quickly enough or you were trying to save the bird - Usually the
main reason for gear stripping. The blades usually break first, but if
they
don't and you don't kill the power, the gear teeth will go...
Good Luck,
IYM
