I've replaced mine a few times...Be careful about ordering online though
with the shafts. The one I received was bent when I got it. I picked one
up at the hobby store for the same price without ****pping and told him
about
the bent shaft I received. He took out a cardboard box from under the
counter with 10 brand new shafts from his last order....all bent (some
real
bad).
Anyway, replacing the shaft:
After obviously removing the body (gently pulling out the two pins - The
landing skids are slide outs too..just work them out) You have to take
off
the battery holder (4 screws), then take off the retaining clamp holding
the
inside shaft. Slide the whole inside shaft assy out the top and set
aside.
Slide the upper bearing holder off the Outer shaft. Take the lower blades
off. Take the screws out of the lower Blade holder and slide it up and
off
the shaft. Pop the two plastic arms off the Swash plate and slide the
swash
plate up and off. You'll now see the clamp for the Outer shaft. Loosen
up
the screw and slide the clamp and washer up and off. (Note the small
brass
washer and it's orientation!!) You can now slide the outer shaft down and
out through the bottom. Don't forget to remove the bearing from your old
shaft, as the new shaft does not come with one. You'll MAY need to take a
rod (dowel) to slide into the top of your old shaft to pop the bearing out
(or if your careful, you can utilize the inside shaft to gently push it
out)
Reverse order to assembly - be careful when you put the swash plate back
on - It has to be adjusted correctly and leveled right....
All in all it sounds more difficult than it is and you'll be able to strip
your bird down in record time in the future without fear...
Good Luck...
