I'm not sure if any of my radios can have revo mixing turned off and
on depending on gyro mode. Obviously, in hold mode you don't want
the Tx adding any TR inputs 'cuz the gyro will see that and let the
tail swing. Conversely, it'll help while in rate mode to try and
minimize the tail movement during collective changes. Honestly, I
don't see the need in either rate or hold mode. Fly the helicopter.
There's a TR control for a reason. My 1st heli has a mechanical gyro
and there was no revo mix available. You set the gyro to dampen yaw
as much as possible and then flew the thing.

My question is this: Is there a compelling reason NOT to fly in HH
all the time? I usually set the gyro in rate mode for the mechanical
setup and then flip it into HH mode and leave it there. The only time
I'd go back into rate mode would be to tweak something in the
mechanical setup or to double check the pitch slider centering after a
crash repair.
