New Quilter at the Quilting Bee in the Sky

by Debbi in So CA <daffymom@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 16, 2008 at 10:18 AM

On Sunday morning, Helen Brassaw, an amazing quilting arrived at the
quilting bee in the sky to meet all of our ancestors. Helen was charter
member of the Beach Cities Quilters Guild, a past president and the most
amazing woman I have ever known. She raised her grandchildren, was their
GS leader and would quilt like mad. I really don't think there is any
pattern out there that she has not made at least twice in her life. She
participated in the monthly block party at guild every month, would win
blocks ever month and would have those blocks put into a finished quilt
by the next month's meeting. Helen always had a smile on her face even
while dealing with chemo for breast cancer. When she went through chemo
the first time, she lost feeling in her fingers and could not hand quilt
for a while so she would come to the meetings working on her crocheting.
She gave quilts to philanthropy, our silent auction, friends in need
etc. She will be sorely missed.
