big pitcher

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted for a while. I went to a workshop over the weekend
and learned a new (to me) way to throw a big pitcher, or vase and I
wanted to share it with you guys. It's made in two pieces. You throw
the bottom just like you ordinarily would and set it aside to become
firm to leather hard. I put plastic around the rim. Then, (here
comes the fun part) later, you measure the outside edge of the rim
with calipers and then you throw a fat short donut shape. The bottom
edge of the fat donut should be the same size as the outside edge of
the leather hard pot. You cut the donut off the wheel and put it on
the scored, slipped top of the other pot and just smush the top part
on to the bottom pot and blend the top part to the bottom on the
outside and inside. Now you start pulling up the sides of just the
top part. It's great. I think I used about 5 pounds for the bottom
and 3 pounds for the top. If I knew how, I'd send a picture.
Sandi
