Tying your X-mas tree to the car

by "Jakob Bauer" <jakob-bauer@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 18, 2006 at 03:46 PM

Hello,

given two fixed bars, a plank of wood, a christmas tree and some rope,
how would you go about knotting the plank on top of the two bars, and
then the tree on the plank (the plank is obviously for keeping the tree
from scratching the car)?

I know, probably anybody can get the job done, but how do you get
everything perfect: In case of hard deceleration neither the plank nor
the tree should go a-flying, the needed rope should be as short as
possible, the knots involved simple but elegant and safe, everything
easily knottable from the ground (assuming the car has a non-trivial
height or the knotter is small), etc.

Thanks in advance
Jakob *wink*
