Reason for straining hops

by "spcurtis@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <spcurtis@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 16, 2008 at 10:55 AM

I have been doing extract for a couple of months now, and I use hop
pellets and have been straining out the hop sludge after the boil when
I transfer it to my primary (which is a little bit of a pain). Now my
question is, is there really any need for this? Besides making it
easier to transfer to my bottling bucket, or secondary, is their any
reason to actually strain out the hop sludge? Will any off flavors/
contaminants infect my precious wort/beer and distort or ruin the
resulting beer?

Thanks
-Scott
