First off, you got bent over and didn't even get kissed after.

You would have been much money ahead to have replaced the entire system
with 
one that has R-410a refrigerant. There is no lubricant to fix "dirty" 
reversing valves. Holding on for awhile is not an option. In just a year
and 
a half, the old R-22 refrigerant is gonna become real scarce, and the
price 
is gonna go sky high.... prolly $100/lb or more.
You can do what you want, but whoever sold you that air handler without 
replacing the whole system and updating to the new refrigerant, ****ed you

hard.
